WordPress Admin Bar

Some people have these plugins that they just can’t live without. The WordPress Admin Bar is such a plugin for me. The author’s description:

This plugin creates an admin bar at the top of your site for logged in users (i.e. you) based on the design of the admin bar located at WordPress.com. It has links to all popular areas of the admin area, saving you time.

It requires no theme editing whatsoever — just upload and activate and you’re done.

I’ve used it on many of my projects due to the ease of use. No longer do I have to go to the Dashboard to modify something, I simply use the handy little dropdown menu.

Of course, there is always room for improvement. First off, one of the things that would really help would be the addition of a link to edit a post/page. This should be provided by themes, but it’s become a habit to turn to the Admin Bar for all my admin needs.

Nevertheless, it’s definately one of those plugins you simply can’t live without when you’re a regular user of WordPress.

  1. I’m a regular user of WordPress, and my heart seems to be beating pretty well without this plugin installed. However, it does look a bit nifty and I may well try it out, so thanks for sharing.

Have you considered listing all the plugins used here on Dev WP? I’m keen to know how you achieve the static html pages, and whether you use a plugin to get the “Add to del.icio.us…” feature below posts.
